Established by Cristobel Balenciaga Eisaguirre (born in Guetaria, Spain 1895), in 1911 aged 16, opened first couture shop. In 1915 opened first salon in his own name in San Sebastian. In 1937 opened House of Balenciaga in Paris. Died on 24.03.1972 in Valencia. Sold to Hoechst in 1972, who in 1986 sold to Jacque Bogart. In 1988 Balenciaga Couture et Parfums was acquired by Jacques and Regine Konichier. Signature perfume' Le Dix' launched in 1947

Created by Francis Fabron of Roure, a soft rich floral parfum with top notes of bergamot, lemon, peach and coriander; heart notes of rose, jasmine and orris on base notes of vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, rosewood, musk and civet and is classified B3f. The name means ‘the ten’, taken from 10-avenue George V, Paris: the address of the famous Balenciaga salon. Presented in a clear fluted column flacon with domed fluted cap with the name in a frieze at the top of the bottle; has‘HP’ the trademark for Verrières Pochet et du Courval on base.

Originally intended to be a masculine edt but as it was very popular with women so it was subsequently presented as a spicy unisex crisp spicy fougère fragrance with top notes of bergamot, lemon, sweet orange and mint, heart notes of geranium, lavender, nutmeg and pimento on base notes of rosewood, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, amber and musk, classified C4mf. Presented in a vertical ribbed bottle and matching red cap designed by Atelier Dinand.
