In 1864 B.J.Johnston opened B J Johnstone
Soap Company in New York; in 1916 B J Johnston was incorporated and in
1926 joined the Peet Brothers and formed Palmolive-Peet Co., in 1928 merged
with Colgate and formed Colgate Palmolive-Peet Co; in 1953 the company
adopted the name Colgate-Palmolive Co. Most of Colgate's fragrances were
produced in the 1920's.
