Established by Count Alfred d’Orsay (1801-1852) a French-born
dandy, said to be the "most fashionable man in the most fashionable
circles in the most fashionable town in the world: London". He dabbled
in perfumery; the Parfums d’Orsay line was launched in 1865 at
17 rue de la Paix, Paris, as a cosmetics and toiletry business by well
capitalised group; Siegfried and Sally Beg, Germans; Leo Fink, Ditch
and M van Dyck a naturalised Frenchman; used an original Count d’Orsay
formula for a fragrance called "Eau de Bouquet", now renamed
'Etiquette Bleue'.(2005). Aaward gold medal in 1925. Business confiscated
and liquidated during World War II, afterwards reformed with French owners
under the management of Gaston Monteux.
