| Bvlgari Parfums |
Italy |
Division of the world’s
number three jewellery company, had its origins a little village near Epire
on the Albanian border where Sotirio Boulgaris. In 1879 as a talented 20-year
old silversmith with his friend Demetrio
Kremo emigrated to Italy; the two parted and Sotirio settled in Rome. In
1905, he opened the first Bulgari shop, on Via dei Condotti; he died, in
1932, his sons, Giorgio and Costantino took over; in 1934 they Italianised
the name to Bvlgari. They developied a passion for jewelry and precious
stones: taking its inspiration from Greco-Roman classicism and the Italian
Renaissance; it is still a family run business; now branched out into
fashion-wear, accessories and fragrances, signature one launched in
1992. All the flacons are designed by
Thierry de Baschmakoff; renowned for their clean smooth and immaculate lines,
an epitome of clam classicism and reflects the understated opulence of the
Bvlgari style. In 1998 an agreement signed with Ferregamo to develop a range
of cosmetics and fragrances under the Ferregamo name. The ‘v’ in the name is
simply the Roman rendering of the letter ‘u’, |
